PES play major role in delivering ground breaking Offshore Wind Turbine Development Facilities – NAUTILUS & FUJIN

Working on behalf of Shepherd Construction Limited, PES was awarded the Design & Build Subcontracts for the NAUTILUS (3 Megawatt) and FUJIN (15 Megawatt) Drive Train Testing Facilities at the National Renewable Energy Centre (NAREC).

The Project Team was awarded the Robert Stephenson Award by The Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) North East. Highlighting the ‘great technical ingenuity in both design and construction processes’ ICE judges commented, “the requirements of the scheme set unique challenges for the designers to understand and calculate the huge loads applied during the testing process and the construction demanded tolerances more normally associated with a laboratory that a construction site”.

Following the successful completion of the FUJIN facility, six weeks ahead of schedule, Shepherd Construction Limited’s onsite Project Manager stated, “Reviewing what PES UK has achieved on this site stands testimony to the professionalism and experience you and your team have in this nature of work. I can honestly say I could not think of another specialist contractor who could have achieved what you and your team have achieved to date.”
